Black Classical returns to Sector 12/12 with an extended version of his previously self-released LP SPAC_S. His recent On the Corner release "Candomblé" received support from Gilles Peterson and Tom Ravenscroft on BBC Radio 6.
It was back in 2015 we released his bold ambient soundtrack "The Molly Brown Incident". We described it as audio science fiction born as a result of sleepless nights and an over active imagination. This serves as an unofficial sequel to that album.
Instances of utter despair collide with moments of intense optimism as distorted voices, strange melodies and piercing drones illustrate one person’s tale of alien abduction and its aftermath.
CHAS_S combines a series of short disturbing audio sketches which depict disjointed memories and wild experiments. In contrast, SPAC_S steadily builds through multiple layers of melody and sound before climaxing euphorically.
Black Classical once again delivers a landmark release for the label with his unique take on musical story-telling and attention to detail.
"The intro to CHAS_S is like being revved up for a fight." April Larson (Isobel Ccircle~)
"CHAS_S has a nice push and pull, teasing elements that feel like they are a memory of a previous listen." Spednar (Cosmic Sound)
"A wonderful ever shifting soundscape – think John Carpenter meets Juan Atkins… EPIC." Original Gidman (Dusk Dubs)
"Radiowave events and deep space constructs. Hazy recollections of Pink Floyd's Echoes can be glimpsed." Entaclishus
